Are you a black or Asian woman who wants to achieve more in your personal or professional life?

Or are you an ally who wants to understand how best to support a black or Asian woman on her journey?

Because the reality is that black and Asian women may go about achieving success quite differently from their white counterparts.

As you’ll discover in this new book, Undeterred: The Success Equation of Women of Black and Asian Heritage, while we may ALL use a similar set of skills and attributes to achieve success in our lives, we don’t ALL use them in the same ways.

We call this ‘The Success Equation’.

Understanding it is critical to success without burnout if you are of black or Asian heritage and to your understanding of how to support them if you are an ally.

Reading this book will help you to

  •  Understand what the journey to success looks like for black and Asian women and how their perspectives of achievement can differ

  • Understand how they combine strategies to navigate their way around racist or sexist behaviour in their personal and professional lives

  • Find inspiration, courage and practical steps for use on your own journey and/or to support the women you work with

It is essential reading for those who are looking for inspiration to achieve and lead, whether as employees, business owners, campaigners or champions who break down barriers to progress.

The Women

Undeterred: The Success Equation of Women of Black and Asian Heritage features 10 ordinary black and Asian women who are making an extraordinary impact in their world. Through their personal journeys, discover the four elements common to their achievements.

For example

  • Meet Mandu, leader of the Women’s Equality Party since 2019, a shining beacon of determination and hope for black women trying to make it in a man’s world.

  • Learn about resistant Marsha, founder of BelEve, a young women’s development charity providing opportunities and support to young women that might otherwise have been blocked from reaching their potential.

  • Be inspired by Razia Khanom, the resilient and politically-savvy mother who went over and above to tackle a critical shortage of affordable housing not just for her own family but for countless others too.

These, and the other inspirational stories of strength, courage and purpose, make Undeterred a must-have addition to your bookshelf this year.

About Claudia

Hi, I’m Claudia Crawley, author of Undeterred: The Success Equation of Women of Black and Asian Heritage.

I am an executive coach, a career coach and mentor and an anti-racist consultant. As the founder of ‘Winning Pathways Coaching’, I help women, mainly in the social care sector to overcome career progression obstacles and accomplish higher performance.

In a social work career spanning many years, I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly of how humans treat other humans, whether in power relationships such as employer/employee, or within families or between peers.

During 2016 to 2019, I followed with interest and concern, the treatment of Meghan Markle by the UK press and public. This led me to consider how she was coping with the pressure and where she was getting support. My new book was born out of a desire to explore how successful women of colour have been dealing with societal racism and sexism.

In 2021, of the top 100 British companies, only 6 have a woman CEO and none of these is black or Asian. Women still earn on average far less than their male counterparts despite more than 50 years having passed since the Gender Equality Act (1970).I believe that women can and should be encouraged to achieve more.

My purpose is to enable more women, especially black and Asian women to shake free of a lukewarm life, shape their preferred future, contribute more and make a better world in the process.

Read Undeterred and cultivate your own success equation to move your life forward today.
